Groundnut is the single largest source of edible oils in India and constitutes roughly about 50 per cent of the total oilseeds production. India occupies the first place in acreage and second in production of groundnut. The list of summer groundnut growing villages of Rahuri, Sangamner, Akole, Rahata, Newasa and Shrirampur tehsils was obtained from taluka Krishi Adhikari. Two villages from each tehsil that is 12 villages were selected for the study on the basis of area under summer groundnut crop. A total of 10 summer groundnut growers from each village were selected randomly on the basis of area under summer groundnut crop. Hence, in 6 tehsils, 12 villages and 120 respondents were selected for the present study. It is concluded that about 60.84 per cent respondents had medium knowledge level, followed by 22.50 per cent respondents had low knowledge level and 16.66 per cent respondent summer groundnut growers had high knowledge level. And 65.83 per cent respondents had medium adoption level, followed by 18.34 per cent respondents had low adoption level and 15.83 per cent respondent summer groundnut growers had high adoption level.

Sugarcane harvesting is a heavily labour-intensive operation and thousands of labourers use to come from drought prone areas to work as sugarcane harvesting labourers for the requirements of their livelihood. In all 210 sugarcane harvesting labourers were randomly selected for the present investigation. The study concluded that the relationship between some selected independent and dependent variables showed that the variables like age, education, caste, marital status, family size, family type, land holding and occupation had statistically non-significant relationship with socio-biography. The variables viz., experience, income and nature of migration showed significant relationship with socio-biography. The respondents sugarcane harvesting labourers were consuming Bajra/Jowar Bhakari with curry of cereals/pulses, edible oils every day and weekly meat/egg/ vegetables as energy source since they have to perform the heavy and untired work. More than half (69.04 per cent) of respondents were using more than two pairs of cotton cloths, incase of Terreline majority i.e. 71.90 per cent of the respondent were using one pair. About 37.14 per cent of the sugarcane harvesting labourers were using hand pumps as their source of drinking water. All the sugarcane harvesting labourers were using as there shelter bamboo hut covered with sugarcane trash the during harvesting period at factory residence. Majority of respondents (93.33 per cent) brushed their tooth every morning followed by more than half i.e. 53.33 per cent of the respondents were washing their clothes regularly. During harvesting work at factory site, the respondents sugarcane harvesting labourers were not much worried about their health and cleanliness so they many times faced their health problem. Keywords

Indian farmer is the center of focus for development in the model and through an organized effort, farmers has a say in planning and implementation of the development process. Representation is provided to farmers at the village level through Farmers Interest Groups (FIGs). The present study was conducted mainly with the objective to study role performance of Farmers Interest Group (FIG) members working under ATMA project. For the study, Ahmednagar district was selected purposively as farmers interest groups under this district was high as compare to other district of Maharashtra region. Four tahasils viz., Sangamner, Newasa, Shrirampur and Ahmednagar were selected randomly and twenty four villages from those tahasils were selected randomly. From each FIG five members were randomly selected constituting the sample size 120. Ex-post facto research design was used for the study. Majority of the members had middle age, half of the members possessed secondary level of education, more than half of the members had medium level of farming experience, most of the members had medium size of land holding having medium annual income, more than half of the members sometimes used the source of information, less than half of the members had low social participation and half of the members had medium level of economic motivation about working of ATMA. More than half of the members fall in the category of medium role performance about working under ATMA.Major constraints faced by the members were the Scientist and SMS of ATMA use scientific language while providing information, which may create problem to understand, (78.34%) was perceived as their main constraint by farmers under ATMA project. Followed by large number of FIGs found variation in information provided by Govt. and NGOs (65.00%), Technology provided by ATMA is costly (35.00%), extra expenditure on cost of cultivation due to ATMA. (30.00%) then, Technology provided by ATMA affects traditional method (22.50%) and technology provided from ATMA is irrelevant with local nature (10.00%).Keywords
